Please send your love to Harry

Well, my little Harry, who I introduced you to yesterday, is sick. He was unwell from the time he came home with us but we assumed it was just settling-in problems. This morning after the kids had gone to school he went off for a sleep and when he woke up he was vomiting. Since then he has been vomiting most of the day and has only wanted to sleep, snuggling up to this blanket that I wrapped him in when we first brought him home. He is just floppy and tired, he doesn't even want to play with his favourite toy. Luckily we live opposite a great vet, who has given him an injection for his dehydration and is monitoring him. But I can't help worrying, he's so unbelievably tiny and helpless. Right now he is on my lap, on his blankie, with his chin on my keyboard. I'm sure he will be ok, probably it's just his change of environment, but please send all your love to Harry tonight, hoping that he will get better and be a perky little puppy again as soon as possible. Thank you xxx

Update: Harry has been sick again and has gone to spend the night at the vet's surgery on a drip (he has his blankie with him). Tomorrow he will have some samples taken to check that he doesn't have a serious illness. I can't stop thinking about the poor little thing being on his own all night. Isn't it strange, a few days ago I didn't even know Harry but he has taken up a huge place in my heart so quickly. Get well tonight darling Harry! Kisses from us all xxx

Hi Alison,

We had a similar problem with a new little puppy that we bought, it was the change in water that was making her unwell. The vet suggested that we feed her bottled water for a few weeks as the town/tank water might have a little bug in it.

Hope that helps

xxx Leah

Thank you guys! Thanks Leah - I will try bottled water - maybe the Daylesford mineral spring water has affected Harry, it is quite different from city water.

Oh no poor little Harry, it's not good when little puppies aren't well but so lucky to have a vet close by. I'm sure with that snuggly blanket, lots of cuddles and the vet visit he'll feel lots better in the morning.:)

Hi Alison,

I really feel for you with darling little Harry, I totally understand as I had the same situation when our beautiful retriever Max came to live with us (we adopted him from a rescue situation - very stressful for him). For the first 3-4 days he was not well at all, and the vet assured us with much TLC as you are giving little Harry, plus the vet's care, he would soon recover and be fine, and he was and has never been happier!

Please keep positive, your love and warmth with help his recovery. He already has his cosy blanket, have you tried a clock/soft bear toys? Clocks work wonders for puppies in new family environments.

Sending lots of warmth, hugs and strongest get well energy for your beautiful puppy:-)

Claire :-)

Hope little Harry is better soon. My pup got sick when I first got him too. Change in food and environment I guess, but he got better once he settled in. It quite an ordeal though. Poor little thing. I'm sure he'll be ok with some rest and quiet time.
